Description
An improved version of the beloved Northern Spy. Introduced from Nova Scotia, Nova Spy starts bearing apples in just three years, while Northern Spy takes 10 years. The large fruits have a wonderful, tart-sweet, vanilla-like flavor and are excellent for fresh eating, pies and cider. Exhibits resistance to fire blight and scab. Matures in mid-October. Best pollinators are: Liberty, Goldrush, McIntosh, Jonathan, Sweet 16 and Honeycrisp. Standard trees grow up to 25 ft. tall. Li'l Big Trees grow 6 ft. tall. Plant in full sun. Premium trees include 2 oz. of Quick-Cal Pelletized Calcium to enhance fruit quality, 12-oz. bag of Fruit Tree Food Starter Formula and premium tree guard to protect the trunk from gnawing pests, mowers and weed trimmers. Li'l Big Deluxe also includes a tree support. Zones 4-8.
