Virginia Bluebells

In mid-spring, large clusters of bell-shaped, sky blue flowers bloom atop 16- to 24-in. stems. This beloved native wildflower looks particularly striking when planted en masse—or planted next to ferns in full to partially shaded areas. Top choice for beds and borders or shady woodland gardens. Grows 1- to 2 ½-ft. tall. Zones 3-9.

Loose flower clusters arise from the axils of the leaves and stems. This woodland plant looks attractive planted next to ferns. The ferns can do double duty by filling in when the Virginia Bluebells dieback during the hot Summer days.
